SkyBridge V2 Progress Update

Aviators, it has been some weeks since our last article, and in that time, we have achieved so much! Let's talk about the highlights...

Backed by Thrive and Polygon

We have been recognized by Thrive Protocol for our development on SkyBridge, and we are thrilled to bring SkyBridge and CCIP to Polygon this July. Thank you, Polygon, for funding this program, which enabled us to expedite support for Polygon PoS on SkyBridge. This milestone-based grant program allows us to work closely with the folks at Thrive to help maximize our impact on Polygon by following simple tracks and getting awarded for milestones based on deployment status and usage metrics.

This means that users will soon be able to seamlessly transfer assets between Ethereum, Base, and Polygon using Chainlink CCIP.

Our team is working diligently on updated UX/product designs, as well as top-secret infrastructure optimizations, that will transform SkyBridge from "just another bridge" to a cornerstone app in every crypto user's catalogue. To do that, we are exercising extreme diligence at the highest standards. For this reason, SkyBridge will launch on Polygon using the current user interface.

Our goal is to ensure this launch is phenomenal. To achieve that, SkyBridge v2 will release later this year as an enterprise-grade product, supported by an extensive and powerful launch campaign. We're on it.

SkyBridge is Getting Cheaper 🤑

When we launched SkyBridge, our model was always to focus on low fees and high volume transactions—it is time to push this to the limits. Why? We want SkyBridge to be accessible, ubiquitous, and a regular part of users' crypto routines and lifestyles.

Previously:

• Bridge AVI, native tokens, NFTs: .001 ETH
• Bridge other tokens: .001 ETH + 0.3% pool fee*

Starting this July:

• Bridge AVI, native tokens, NFTs: .0001 ETH
• Bridge other tokens: .0001 ETH + 0.1% pool fee*

Bridge for a low flat rate! .0001 ETH
Supports AVI, ETH, AVAX, BNB, FTM/S, USDC, and all NFTs.

*100% of pool fees are issued to reward pool stakers.

That represents a fee decrease of 90%! 💥 Moving from 0.3% bridge fees to 0.1% bridged fees represents a fee decrease of 66%! We are making these changes based on market research and how it relates to our unique value proposition. The standard user is most interested in minimizing their costs, therefore increasing SkyBridge volume and global V2 rewards. Our imminent updates will elevate us to compete at the highest level of the market. All new fees will be reflected in the updated documentation.

Usage Rewards

We recognise the great patience of our community for supporting us and our development over the past several months. We are forever grateful for your support. And soon, it'll be our turn to return the favor. While our team has hinted at this since the beginning of the year, let us be explicit here: we will be directly giving back to the community for their activity before V2's formal launch later this year. Here's some of what we're looking at:

As a reminder, we will be hosting a holders-only beta test very soon for everyone who holds at least 1,000,000 AVI tokens. Participate in the beta by testing out our CCIP smart contracts, and you can earn up to 100,000 Aviator tokens for helping out. Expect a timeline announcement for this testing program this month. 📅

We will also be hosting a separate, invite-only A/B testing for our new user experience design. This testing will require signing an NDA and will not be onchain.

We were pleased to join Zach Prater again for our third appearance on Base Game Night. Alongside our friends at Sea of Skulls, Uptopia, and Foxaria (can you guess who we just partnered with?), we got to showcase some new games available on Aviator Arcade and announce some new features and events to the wider Base community! The deadline to upload games and earn the limited edition Pioneer Dev NFT has passed! We will be sending these NFTs to game creators this month to lock in their permanent 5% rewards boost.

Increased Token Support

We recently announced that Aviator Arcade will be adding support for purchases in ETH and USDC! We understand crypto can be confusing, and this inaccessibility is the number one point of friction we hear from gamers new to Web3. Enabling the most commonly used and understood digital assets greatly reduces the barrier for entry into Base gaming and will do so much for onboarding new users. We call these new tokens "alternate currencies."

How will this work? Whenever a user pays for a game in an alternate currency, that asset is stored in a rewards pool as usual and is converted to AVI whenever a game's scheduled payout commences. This causes routine and constant buy pressure for the Aviator token and increased DEX volume. This updated token system will be further detailed in our documentation once released.

Memecoin Mayhem

Also coming this month: a new mini-jam with a focus on Base communities, where the winning communities will receive token prizes and a listing for their token on Aviator Arcade for use in playing games and purchasing upcoming user marketplace content! We are currently collaborating with some of your favorite Base GameFi projects to bring more fun games to the platform and make gaming on Base easier to use for everyone.
